Sewing Buddy Challenge

Wow! Two posts in a month, I may have moved off the couch for real. My need for  a creative challenge and motivation came with the Sewing Buddy post I found at the Whipstitch Blog.

Last night I checked my email and found a wonderful message from my sewing partner "Shari". Shari and I will venture to support and encourage each other as we sew through 2011. If you missed the sign up and need a creative boost..... join us..... Post your information below and I will get back to you with a challenge to join us in a monthly project..

I am in the process of checking the postings. I think you need to have a URL or a google account in order to post on my blog...Please have patience I am trying to fix this!!!

My suggestion is that we start with the PINK SLIPPER Project.
What  are your thoughts? Check it out...add some feedback in the comment section (please remember to add an email or contact information in your post) Thanks bunches.....
Jump over to the Pink Slipper Project page for a free pattern download..

PSSS: I am in need of a new camera if I am to jazz these posts up a bit...Any suggestions????

Hi, there! You're getting this note because you signed up for a Sewing Buddy, which is completely awesome. I'm excited to see all the connections that will be built, plus all the challenges and interviews and projects and charities and photos and amazingly inspiring ideas I know are just around the corner!

You have my embarrassed apologies that this email has been delayed so long--I am overwhelmed and so excited at the sheer number of people who want to participate--seriously cool!

Please confirm your Buddy-ness by replying to this email. Be sure to tell me (1) your favorite color and (2) a number between 1 and 10. I'll use those factoids to match you to the PERFECT buddy to last all the way through the year! I know some of you left these same details in your comments on the blog, but in the interest of efficiency, I'll use your REPLIES to match you to your partner, and the sooner y'all get back to me, the sooner you'll get all squared away! In my effort to get everyone matched and introduced by February 1, 2011, please reply by midnight EST this Saturday, January 29. I'll send out all matches no later than midnight EST January 31, 2011.

Thanks so much for taking part, and go on and kick-start those great ideas. This is going to be so. much. fun.

    Take care, and happy stitching!

    Ladies,

I'm delighted to introduce you to your new Sewing Buddy! Pat, meet Shari. Shari, meet Pat. I can't wait to see what the two of you will be able to accomplish together! Coming up on the blog are some ideas of how to get started and projects you might want to consider, but mostly I'm looking forward to seeing what YOU come up with, and what your ideas are! Stay tuned for contests and competitions, too, that are designed just for Sewing Buddies to do together.

Please let me know what I can do to help the two of you as you get to know one another, and I look forward to hearing how it goes!

Take care, and best of luck to you,
    Deborah

    Hi Pat,

I am new to Sewing Buddy so I don’t have a clue what it is all about. But I love to sew and I love to learn new things and meet new people. So if you have done this before, clue me in on the specifics. I’ll start with telling you a little about me. My family and I live in a small town in Louisiana. Actually we don’t live in town. We live in the country. The closest town to us is 15 miles away and it is a VERY small town. I have to drive 65 miles just to buy fabric! We live on a farm that my parents left to me when they passed away 3 years ago. I am a 48 y/o old single mom of 3 great kids. My oldest, Sara, is a recent college graduate in the field of veterinary technology. My middle child, Emily, is in 11th grade. She plays softball and is a budding future famous artist. My youngest, Adam, is in 6th grade and likes anything that goes really fast. He has been diagnosed with ADHD and we are having a devil of a time with the school system. I currently work in the mental health field as a Certified Peer Support Specialist and I am also attending college on-line to get my Bachelors degree in psychology. I hope to go on to obtain a Master’s in clinical counseling. Sewing is my therapy. I fell in love with sewing when I made my first outfit in home-ec in the 9th grade and have been doing it ever since. I make garments and craft items. Baby clothes is my favorite! Appliqué is my favorite technique and I have made LOTS of personalized tote bags. I’m very excited about this new adventure and meeting someone who has an interest in something that I love. None of my friends sew. I can’t wait to hear from you and get this thing started.
